UPDATE!

I've decided to revamp this site and

move all sales over to my ETSY shop.

The site is now structured to give you

some examples of the sorts of pieces

that I generally make. If you see

something you're particularly enamored

with and can't find it in my ETSY shop,

let me know. I'm happy to discuss a

custom piece.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I’m especially drawn to materials that

are decidedly not precious--things that

some might even consider to be trash.

In this vein, my current work is primarily

concerned with re-purposing steel from

printed containers. I've recently learned

that this means I am engaged in the

heady process of upcycling.

Finding the tins and then selecting the

most intriguing areas to work with is, in

some ways, a holdover from my graphic

design training. It's somehow both

comforting and challenging to work with

found imagery. I tend to be drawn to

bright colors and bold graphics and

many of these pieces reflect this.

However, I do appreciate and try to

work with the more illustrative aspects

of some of the tins.

The variety of raw material is almost

limitless, so I have focused largely on

the circle as a unifying starting point for

most of my pieces, but I am increasingly

exploring different shapes and more

complex constructions. It is by far the

most engaging work I've ever done. I

can't wait to see where it will take me.
