My Go Big initiative this year is getting me into all kinds of newness. I'm realizing I've been completely limiting myself making things that were to my own personal scale. Not only do other people love big statement jewelry, I'm able to use tins in ways I never could before.
Like this lovely flower pattern from an empty Voluspa candle tin. The beautiful pattern can really only be appreciated with bigger pieces like these. I'm having so much fun rethinking all sorts of things.
Each piece is hand cut, edges filed and finished smooth and then riveted to a length of waxed steel wire. A surgical stainless steel ear wire finishes the look. This design looks like it would slide around a lot on the wire, but I've worn several versions now and it, surprisingly, mostly stays centered.
The finished earrings are about 1.5" (36mm) wide and 2.5" (62mm) long. Each pair is made to order, so expect slight variations with your particular pair.
All adaptive reuse pieces come to you neatly displayed on an upcycled card and wrapped ready for gift-giving.
