Exploring Different Symbols Throughout 2020
Last year in January I gave myself a 30 day challenge to create a new earring design each day. That was both super hard and incredibly rewarding. I wasn't feeling it this year, but I did want to have some sort of structured thing to pursue.
I had been thinking about 2020 and the obvious vision reference for the past couple of months, which got me thinking that maybe exploring iconic symbols from across cultures could be really interesting. So I'm going to pick one a month to dig into and explore in tin. I don't have the whole schedule yet, but here's the plan for the first six months:
It's no surprise that nearly every culture has some version of an eye symbol as either an indicator of good, evil, protection, wisdom, knowledge, secrecy or mystery. Some of the more famous are the Eye of Horus, the Eye of God and the Greek Eye.
I’m starting out with this pretty literal interpretation, but I suspect things to get more abstract as I go along. I think tin mati might be really cool.
