The principle of Yin and Yang highlights the inherent duality in the world. yin and yang examples of such opposites exist in every possible paradigm. Old and young. Darkness and light. Left and right. Earth and sky. Endlessly dualistic.
There is no superior, just in relationship to one another. Balance between the two is what brings harmony to this world and the order of things.
The koi fish is a significant symbol in Japanese culture. The koi fish symbolizes luck, prosperity, good fortune, strength, perseverance – basically everything good.
Each piece is hand cut, filed, finished smooth and surfaces brought to a matte finish. Then I rivet the pieces together and the little vintage metal koi fish are then connected with a jump ring. A surgical stainless steel ear wire finishes the look.
The finished earrings are approximately 1.375" (32mm) wide and hang about 3" (72mm) from the ear.
Each piece of metal comes to me having lived a previous life--in some cases multiple lives! It is not unusual for the material to sometimes have scuffs, scratches, faded portions, and general wear and tear. If a flawless finish is important to you, please zoom in to the pictures here to look for imperfections that might be distracting for you.
All adaptive reuse pieces come to you neatly displayed on an upcycled card and sustainably wrapped ready for gift-giving.
