These one-a-kind talismans are a great way to add a little extra magic to your home. They are small art that can be hung in doorways, windows, altars, narrow spaces or any other little place that needs some magic.
I’ve been working with all sorts of new shapes lately and have been thinking more deeply about the symbolism of each of them.
Somewhere in the midst of all that I got the beginning of an idea that maybe some of them would be interesting to work with on a bigger scale and in a variety of different combinations.
A Circle has no beginning or end and is therefore a symbol of infinity.
Clouds are a mixture of the four elements—air and water, along with a measure of fiery energy and dust from the earth.
The Crescent Moon banishes evil energy, break spells, and remove hexes. It is a time of new beginnings, intention setting, and to start new projects or add new things into your life.
The Eye is one of the most powerful symbols known to many cultures. It can be an indicator of good, evil, protection, wisdom, knowledge, secrecy and mystery.
The Full Moon represents imagination, intuition, transition, renewal and the culmination of growth.
According to Aristotle, the Hand is the “tool of tools.” A symbol of strength, power and protection as well as generosity, hospitality and stability.
Rainbows are symbols of hope, promise, peace, equality, luck, new beginnings, and eternal life.
Stars are often seen as symbol of divine guidance, of enlightenment or light in the darkness.
Stones & Pebbles are about solidity, stability and being grounded. Symbolic of the history they’ve lived while on this earth—like little history books holding memories.
The Sun gives you the power and life energy to overcome obstacles and live your life with positive energy.
The symbolism of Water has a universal undertone of purity and fertility. Symbolically, it is the source of life itself in countless creation myths in which life emerges from primordial waters.
Of course these shapes may mean completely different things to you. That’s one of the beauties of talismans—they are specific to each of us.
Each piece of metal comes to me having lived a previous life--in some cases multiple lives! It is not unusual for the material to sometimes have scuffs, scratches, faded portions, and general wear and tear. If a flawless finish is important to you, please zoom in to the pictures here to look for imperfections that might be distracting for you.
All adaptive reuse pieces come to you neatly displayed on an upcycled card and sustainably wrapped ready for gift-giving.
