adaptive reuse: joyful jewelry for intrepid souls
-
Here at adaptive reuse we create talismans of joy. With each tap of an earring or shift of a necklace, you are reminded to find beauty in unexpected places, play more and fear less.
-
You can happily own adaptive reuse pieces knowing that they are sustainably handmade from upcycled tins. Now you can wear the change you want to see in the world!
-
Each piece is completely one-of-a-kind—creating an opportunity to own pieces that truly speak to your unique soul. Pieces are so fun and singular they're guaranteed to get you noticed, spark conversations and inspire joy.
-
The tin is so thin and lightweight you can wear big, beautiful earrings comfortably all day long.
-
Plus, tins come in and endless array of color and pattern. Each month you’ll have access to a whole new collection in an endless variety of finishes—from subtle and elegant to bold and brilliant.
Making fun, inventive and stylish jewelry is what lights me up. I want you to feel the same way when you wear it and give pieces as gifts.
Thanks so much for stopping by the shop. I hope you have fun exploring! Please always feel free to get in touch with me with any questions or comments.
Cheers!

Tin Jeweler | Reckless Recycler
“Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without.”― Boyd K. Packer
When I was a kid I used to laugh at my mom for her drawer of 'gently used' tin foil. It seemed excessive at best, but more likely just a bit loony. Now I completely get why she did it. It wasn't about the money—though we are a frugal lot! It was about using things up.
Tin Jewelry
It’s this drive to ‘waste not’ that inspired the adaptive reuse line of art jewelry. Wanting to explore the world of metalsmithing, but not wanting to invest in expensive tools and materials, I stumbled across the idea of using old tin cans. I picked up a few during my next thrift store foray and the rest, as they say, is history. I was immediately smitten by not only the found imagery and color, but also by the realization that I had found a use for what someone else found useless.
Collage & Gelatin Printmaking
I love to clear my jewelry making mind by creating collages, both traditional and my new and speedy 'glueless collage' process where I create compositions, snap a pic and then start over with different elements.
I'm also in love with the gelatin printmaking process. Honestly I haven't yet found a lot of uses for all the prints, but that's not really why I do it. It's by far the most accessible and engagingly fun process I've had the pleasure of playing around with. It's the playfulness that I come back for over and over again.
