I've recently become fascinated with old book covers as a jewelry material. It fits right in with my adaptive reuse philosophy, so I've created a separate line of Ex Libris book pieces.
The designs and colors are limited to the books I have on hand, so if you see something you like, grab it before it's gone. This giant luna moth comes from a vintage children's illustrated encyclopedia.
Each piece is sawed by hand, filed, finished smooth and then coated with a microcrystalline wax to protect from moisture. (These are, however, essentially pieces of paper, so do not wear pieces in the shower!) The finished moth is about 4" (96mm) wide and about 3" (72mm) tall and strung on an 18" silver finish 1mm chain with a standard spring ring clasp.
All adaptive reuse Ex Libris pieces come to you neatly displayed on an upcycled card and sustainably wrapped ready for gift-giving.
