This gorgeous deep purple cloud is paired with a vintage metal airplane I found in a junque shop the other day. This piece was inspired by a memory of flying ‘upcountry’ with my grandad and his war buddy in a little cesna pontoon plane. Seeing the world from above a young kid was a true gift and then landing on the water was pure magic.
The cloud is hand cut, filed and finished smooth. Then I connected with a little rainbow of tin-wrapped waxed steel wire. The plane was then connected with a jump ring. A 1mm 18” long silver finish chain is strung through a little tin bead that sits at the top of the rainbow. the chain has a simple spring ring clasp.
The finished earrings are approximately 1.5" (36mm) wide and hang about 3" (72mm) from the ear. Each pair is made to order so please allow for some difference with your unique pair.
Each piece of metal comes to me having lived a previous life--in some cases multiple lives! It is not unusual for the material to sometimes have scuffs, scratches, faded portions, and general wear and tear. If a flawless finish is important to you, please zoom in to the pictures here to look for imperfections that might be distracting for you.
All adaptive reuse pieces come to you neatly displayed on an upcycled card and sustainably wrapped ready for gift-giving.
