Ancient Symbols + Vintage Tin = Modern Talismans
Create an Upcycled Tin Talisman
Join me in in downtown San Marcos at The Price Center to create a personalized wall talisman from upcycled tins. The class will take place Sunday afternoon, January 7th, 2023 from 1p to 4p.
An amazing and sustainable material to work with, tin is filled with color, patterns and imagery that’s just perfect for making into moons, hearts, hands, eyes, clouds, feathers and other ancient symbols of protection and good fortune.
In this class you will be presented with hundreds of pieces of tin that have been pre-cut into a variety of shapes. You will gather up the pieces that speak to you in order to begin building your very own protective wall talisman.
You will learn how to finish these raw pieces in a variety of ways and also have time to create a few of your own from scratch using the available supply of tin. You'll have an opportunity to cut, form and finish the tin and learn how to rivet together multiple pieces to make things like eyes.
Once you've decided on the perfect combination of pieces, you'll learn how to assemble the final piece of art into beautiful jewelry for your walls.
Students will each make one talisman and leave the class with all the knowledge they would need to work with tin on their own. After the workshop I will also follow up with pdf files that outline the basic process as well as provide a complete tool list with links.
Light snacks and beverages will also be provided.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations previous to two weeks before the workshop there is a 100% refund or a full credit toward a future workshop. Cancellations within two weeks of the workshop will receive a 50% refund.
